
Karelian heritage in the beautiful, lush green surroundings of Kangasala. The Äijälä Centre for Karelian Culture has nationwide significance for its displays on Karelian culture, especially the culture of resettled Karelians. The centre’s collections consist of items donated by the evacuees. Traditional articles, handicrafts, photographs, paintings, a library of 1,000 volumes, and historical documents are on display in this museum of cultural history. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum hosts themed exhibitions every year.
The exhibition rooms are in the attic of Äijälä’s main building and in the storehouses in the yard. You can also buy Karelian products from Äijälä: books, cards, CDs, etc. In addition, the culture centre can be hired as an event venue. The popular willow farm Marjamäen pajutila.
