Ikaalinen Local History Museum is housed in a former granary, built in the early 19th century, in the centre of Ikaalinen, next to the church and market square. Artefacts related to rural culture, handicraft traditions, and the life of the gentry in the former market town of Ikaalinen have been collected for the museum. The museum has been made more accessible recently by means of a Web site that presents photographic exhibitions of the museum’s most interesting artefacts.
The museum also sells Ikaalinen-related literature. A short stroll away from the museum is Rahkola, a municipally maintained building that has served as a tavern, a courthouse, and a venue for municipal meetings and parties.
