Experience the lush scenery as Sillanpää described it. Myllykolu is the humble birth home of Nobel-Prize-winning author Frans Emil Sillanpää. Myllykolu’s small croft and storehouse are on the top of the hill near the Myllyoja ditch. There is also a sauna beside the ditch. This home museum displays the living conditions of a crofter family at the end of the 19th century. We recommend that you also visit the Heinimäki’s Töllinmäki Museum, Sillanpää’s home during his youth.
Next to the museum is the Myllykolu Summer Theatre, which also has a café. The museum is open during intermissions of plays. The café Hämeenkyrö Maisemakahvila, which puts on small exhibitions from Midsummer till the end of July, is only a kilometre from the museum.
